The featured speaker is Mr. William E. Mabe, who began his tenure as Executive Director of SURS on June 21, 2010.
Mr. Mabe arrives at SURS at a point when assuring the system’s fiscal health and the structure and support for critical benefit programs for both retired and current employees has never been more crucial, nor under greater stress. Join us to hear the new Executive Director’s reactions to his first few months on the job and to get his perspectives on the array of issues which confront all public pension programs in Illinois.

An update on e-mail for retirees through the University will also be presented.

These are troubled times for the University of Illinois. One can not recite all the issues that are of concern. We are encouraged, in the midst of this difficulty, to have Stan Ikenberry agree to serve in an interim capacity to help deal with the myriad of problems until new permanent leadership is selected by a newly constituted Board of Trustees. The University is most fortunate to have someone with President Ikenberry's integrity and expertise to help accommodate the troubled times it faces.

Dr. Ikenberry will share his feelings about the historic occurrences that have taken place over the past year and his view of the state of the University and the challenges ahead. He will be available to hear your comments and answer your questions. We are delighted to secure President Ikenberry as our spring speaker, given his extraordinary schedule. It is sure to be a very timely program.
